Rainbow Bird
I was looking for a bird-shaped pin cushion pattern when I found this tutorial. There were also instructions for turning it into an ornament, so of course that's what I did. This one is for a coworker's birthday, but I plan to make several more for Christmas!
The tutorial said to use a small elastic to gather the tail, but I didn't have one so I opted for the running stitch option to gather it. I also used the same method to create the wings as you do for the beak. This does make for a much thicker wing. I used brads for the eyes.
