Kaleidoscope of Stars Quilt B

This quilt is a non-identical twin to my first kaleidoscope of stars quilt. The main difference is the combination of fabrics in the blocks, which you have to look rather closely to notice.

Kaleidoscope of Stars Quilt A

After giving a quilt to my cousin for his daughter's first birthday, I knew I would need to make quilts for this baby's future siblings and cousins, and by this time, my other cousin was expecting a baby boy, so I bought some fabric...and then we moved. Baby cousin #2 is now almost 18 months old, and I've finally finished his quilt!

Hunter's Star Quilt

I finished my first quilt since 2020! I started this quilt in 2020, right after I finished the fox and feathers quilt. I made a bunch of half square triangles, was not motivated to trim them, and set it aside. Then we moved again, and that managed to consume an entire year. I was finally motivated to pick it up again because I cut a bunch of triangles for another quilt, coincidentally featuring the scraps of the fox fabric, and decided I should finish this quilt before starting another.

Baby Alligator Quilt

This may be a baby boy quilt, but I love this gator print so much, I really want to keep it! It is going to family of brothers who received the shark and elephant quilts. (The oldest brother just finished kindergarten!)

This is my first Texas quilt! Shortly after finding out the baby would be a boy, I got an interview for a job. I bought the gator fabric at Hancock's going out of business sale, but that's all I accomplished before I accepted the job and we started packing. (The craft supplies are always the first to get packed.) There's a Hancock right down the street from our new place, but sadly, it's going out of business as well, and it was the closest fabric shop to the house. Fortunately, Joann's and Hobby Lobby aren't too far (though they're not in the same strip, as I've grown used to), and there's a Bernina dealer only a mile away.

May was a busy month. I wasn't sure how quickly I could pull together a quilt for a June baby; however, it's a simple design, so it came together quickly once I got everything unpacked and settled on a design.

Finished size: 38" x 49"

Rainbow Stars and Stripes Quilt

My scrap challenge has proved to be a useful motivator for starting projects I've been meaning to get around to, simply so I can maximize my scraps, and this idea had been floating around awhile. After I took apart the dragonfly quilt, I knew I wanted to repurpose the fabric, but I was limited by the shape of the scraps. Fortunately I was able to create a nice pattern with what I had to work with.

While I always like the look of quilts with a lot of white in photos, I was nervous about how one would turn out in real life, but I am really pleased with the results. I considered quilting with colored thread, but I'm glad I didn't, though I think this is the first quilt I've ever quilted with white thread.

I was pleased to finally find a use for this great multi-colored striped fabric for the back, as well as the orange batik dots for the binding, though I barely made a dent in the batik.

A close-up of the fabrics

New items purchased to complete this quilt: batting, though I should probably count the solid white fabric as well, because I can't remember why I bought it in the first place

Finished size: 39" x 52"
