Mini Quilt Ornament

A couple years ago I had the idea to make Amanda a mini-quilt ornament. I am glad I waited for inspiration because it is much better as a Lisa Frank mini-quilt ornament than anything I would have previously made! Each image is 1" square. I used Jolee's Easy Image transfer sheets. They were different than the printable, fusible fabric sheets I used for the fabric photo book I made last year. (Coincidentally, I used the same pink fabric for both projects!) Those were fabric-y -- you printed and ironed -- where these you print, iron, and peel off the backing for a transfer. These worked much better for this project.

Finished size: 4" x 5.5"

It's Cold Outside!

With extremely low temperatures blanketing the country this weekend, Cleo decided to snuggle under the Avignon Picnic quilt. It was so unusually cold in Pennsylvania that the pipes along the outer walls of Julie's house froze!

Outdoor Cushions for the Cats

My sister asked if I would make outdoor quilts for her cats. Apparently Tyco really wanted to share her towel while she was sunbathing, so she brought out the red quilt for him and he was happy. She didn't really want to use the quilt outdoors though, hence the special outdoor quilt request. When I asked why she couldn't just give Tyco a separate towel or buy a patio chair cushion, Julie said Tyco likes things that are "made specifically for him." They are very pampered cats. I was going fabric shopping that day anyway, so I figured why not, and I picked up some outdoor canvas, which fortunately was half off. I was pleased to find matching prints in the colors she requested.

Lily's Quilt Tent

Mom tries to use the quilt to keep cat hair off the chair, but Lily likes to burrow.

Kitty Cushion

I went to visit my sister while I was in town for a conference for work. She wanted me to make covers for the arms of her couch so the cats wouldn't sit on them and my brother-in-law wanted a cushion for their wicker footrest. Upon returning home, I found the perfect upholstery fabric to match their living room colors, and it was on clearance for $2 a yard.

Cleo loves the new cushion:

Hello Kitty Stocking

This was made to match the pink snowflake ornament for Melissa, since Hello Kitty's head was a bit too big for an ornament in that style.

Finished size: approximately 4" x 5.5"

Possessive Kitties

Tyco and Cleo are a bit possessive of the new quilt.

Julie got up from her desk chair to retrieve a print out and found Cleo staring her down when she returned:

Tyco didn't wait for her to get up. He just scooted in behind her:

Cleo's #1

My sister won a pitching contest at a bar at a ballpark. She was extremely pleased. Her prize was a bucket of beers, so I decided to make a first place baseball ribbon to commemorate this achievement. Cleo took a liking to the ribbon.

Cozy Kitty Quilt

Julie sent me some new pictures of Tyco and Cleo enjoying the quilt I made for her:

Cleo is quite comfy.

ETA - Tyco did not agree with the decision to put the quilt away:

Kitties on a Quilt

Julie also sent pictures of Tyco and Cleo enjoying her quilt:

Tyco

Tyco hogging all the blankies. "King of the blanket pile" according to Julie.

She said one night Tyco wouldn't come up on her lap until she put the quilt on her lap
instead of the other blanket.

More Mice

I made a second set of mice as toys for Tyco and Cleo, using a pattern with some adjustments. They are not quite as cute as the first pair.

Here are the kitties enjoying their new toys:

Pin Cushion Cat Toys

Tyco and Cleo needed some toys. I came across this tutorial for these mice pin cushions you can wear on your finger and thought they would be perfect.

Quilt Request

My sister liked the quilt I sent my dad so much, she wanted me to make one for her. Since I got the jelly roll I used on clearance, I wasn't going to be able to use the same fabrics. I told her to pick out some fabric and I make her a quilt with the same pattern. Pictured above with Tyco is the fabric she's sending.

Lily

I did make Lily her own quilt. This wasn't it. She likes to burrow, and this is just too cute.

Kitty Ornament

My mom and sister love their cats, so last year I made them these kitty-themed ornaments. They're one of my favorite designs - I love the paw print fabric and the kitty button! Thanks again to mom and dad for sending a picture.

Try one yourself using this tutorial.

Kitties on Their Quilts

Here is Lily on her quilt:

And Tyco on his quilt:

I was worried he was not sharing with Cleo, but apparently they're a bit possessive and she has her own blanket.

ETA: Cleo decided to check out the quilt:
